The Boston Celtics picked up one of their biggest wins of the 2025-26 campaign on Tuesday night when they handed the New York Knicks a 123-117 defeat. Despite that, head coach Joe Mazzulla isn’t resting on his laurels.
After a slow start to the season, the C’s have begun to find their way, as they have won seven of their past nine games. Thanks to a 42-point outing from Jaylen Brown, Boston managed to get some revenge against New York after it eliminated the Celtics from the playoffs last year.
Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of the team’s recent stretch of winning is the fact that they are taking down some of the top squads in the league. After sending the Knicks home with a loss, Mazzulla shared a strong message to the C’s that fans of the team will surely love to hear.
“All this does is make me want to get better and better,” Mazzulla said as part of his postgame speech in the locker room. “It’s games like this that we play in the last week that shows who we can be when we stick to the mindset that we have the toughness, the execution and the togetherness.”
Expectations weren’t exactly high for Boston entering the 2025-26 season, but it has quickly proven it can still be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference this year. With Mazzulla continuing to get a better grasp of his team, it seems like the Celtics are on the verge of becoming a truly dangerous group.

There is still a lot of work to do this season, though, and that starts with keeping the good times rolling. Boston will be back in action on Thursday night against the struggling Washington Wizards, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
