The Boston Bruins will return to the ice on Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres after the Holiday break, and some key players are getting close to a return.
Boston entered the break on a four-game losing streak, and the team planned to use the break to reset. It was also a chance to get healthier.
Yet, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm revealed Tanner Jeannot will be out of the lineup on Saturday due to an injury. However, Jonathan Aspirot and Henri Jokiharju are back with the team and closing in on a return, but won’t play on Saturday.
“(Aspirot) will be getting a little bit closer,” Sturm said pregame on Saturday. “(Jokiharju) is skating again. So slowly, guys are coming back.
“They are on the trip, so that’s a good sign. I don’t know if they’re going to make it to a game or two or three. I don’t know. It’s too early to say.”

Sturm didn’t reveal which forward will draw in the lineup for Jeannot on Saturday against the Sabres.
Aspirot last played on Dec. 11 due to an injury and has since been placed on injured reserve. Jokiharju, meanwhile, hasn’t played since Nov. 28 due to an undisclosed injury and is also on injured reserve.
The Bruins enter play with a record of 20-17-1 and are outside of a playoff spot. Boston is on the road to play the Sabres on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Pregame coverage begins on NESN at 6 p.m. ET.
