Red Sox fans have heard about Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, Ketel Marte, among others. Boston has been included in a flurry of rumors tying the organization to those players, after all.
A name that’s flown under the radar, though, is free-agent slugger Jorge Polanco.
MLB insider Jon Heyman reported the Red Sox have had discussions on Polanco, who hit 26 home runs with 78 RBIs last season. The 32-year-old Polanco will enter his 13th season in 2026.
“… They’ve talked about (Jorge) Polanco,” Heyman said on Bleacher Report on Tuesday afternoon.

Heyman believes the Red Sox are going to end up with at least two players out of a group that includes Bregman, Bo Bichette, Ketel Marte, Alonso, Kazuma Okamoto and Polanco.

“I think they’re going to get two bats. They need the two bats,” Heyman said. “If they do get those two bats, they’re ready to go. I think they’re a big-time contender.”
The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier named Polanco as an “intriguing possibility” for the Red Sox last month.
Spotrac views Polanco’s market value to be three years and $43.8 million.
