Pete Alonso will take his talents to the American League East, but the free-agent slugger won’t be signing with the Boston Red Sox.

Alonso is finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Alonso was heavily linked to Boston since the start of free agency and the Red Sox were thought to have a legitimate chance to sign the veteran slugger. It previously was thought the incumbent Mets and Red Sox were the front-runners to land Alonso with the Orioles being viewed as a lesser option.

Alonso’s agreement comes just one day after slugger Kyle Schwarber re-signed with the Phillies on a five-year, $150 million deal.
