Drake Maye might be on the verge of winning his first NFL MVP award, but he’s also rooting for Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown to take home the NBA MVP.

“Oh, I think 100%,” Maye said when “WEEI Afternoons ” asked him on Monday if Brown could win MVP. “I think he’s had how many games of 30 plus? I think he just had a couple of games of 40. He’s doing what he needs to do; he can score the ball at will. He does it so nonchalantly it looks like he’s not even trying out there.”

Maye had insight into Brown long before most people in the NBA world did, as he mentioned that there was a chance Brown could have played alongside Maye’s brother, Luke, at North Carolina back in 2015.

“He came out in my brother’s class and had thought about going with my brother to North Carolina, but he ended up better off when he decided to go to California,” Maye added.

Brown is enjoying an incredible season, averaging 29.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists over 29 games. The Celtics needed Brown to step up in a big-time way with Jayson Tatum out with a torn Achilles.

There’s a chance that Boston might land two MVPs in the next five months — one with Maye and the other with Brown.
