The New England Patriots’ defense could limp into a significant Week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Mike Vrabel delivered some concerning injury updates on Friday. The head coach confirmed that linebacker Robert Spillane will miss Sunday night’s game with a left ankle injury.
Some other key defenders could join Spillane on the sideline. Vrabel announced that Harold Landry III, Marcus Jones, Carlton Davis III and Christian Barmore are all questionable.
Although he was active, Spillane didn’t play during Sunday’s costly 35-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills. New England allowed 349 total yards and 28 second-half points without its leading tackler.
Spillane missed practice all week, so the Patriots must face another MVP quarterback without the 30-year-old. They’ll hope the rest of the unit isn’t too hampered against Lamar Jackson and Co.

Landry, Jones, Davis and Barmore all missed Thursday’s practice, but Patriots.com’s Evan Lazar spotted the first three on the field Friday. Barmore worked on an exercise bike, which the defensive tackle did last Friday before playing 51 snaps against Buffalo.
Barmore would be a significant loss before opposing Derrick Henry and a Ravens offense allowing an NFL-high 5.2 yards per carry. Landry leads the Patriots with 8.5 sacks, Jones has secured a team-leading three interceptions, and Davis has started all 14 games this season.
The Patriots will need as many healthy players as possible when fighting for a playoff berth. Sunday’s game starts at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
