Boston Red Sox fans are waiting with bated breath to see if the team makes any further moves in the coming days. One guy to watch in connection to the Red Sox is star infielder Ketel Marte.
Although Boston Globe‘s Alex Speier pumped the brakes on a Marte-Red Sox trade this week, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi still believes it’s possible.

“The Red Sox are the ideal team to make a move like this.”
Marte delivered another stellar season in 2025, anchoring the Arizona Diamondbacks’ infield with a .283 batting average, 28 home runs, and 72 RBI over 126 games. Despite nagging injuries sidelining him for chunks of the year, his .893 OPS and 145 wRC+ marked some of his finest work, earning him a second Silver Slugger and his third All-Star nod.
Since debuting with the Mariners in 2015 and joining the Diamondbacks via trade in 2016, Marte has evolved into a cornerstone, amassing over $62.8 million in career earnings on a $116.5 million extension through 2031. His postseason prowess shines with a .344 average across 21 games, including a 2023 NLCS MVP.

Trade buzz continues to intensify around the 31-year-old, with suitors like the Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays eyeing a blockbuster; yet no deal has materialized amid Arizona’s steep demands for young pitching. Marte, holding a five-team no-trade list (reportedly including the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees), remains a D-backs fixture for now.
