The Winter Meetings are heating up this week, and several big names have already come off the board in Kyle Schwarber and Edwin Diaz.

There are still plenty of stars available, however, and the Boston Red Sox are in on many of them, including Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman, Bo Bichette, Ketel Marte and others.

With the active Red Sox linked to so many names, it seems like only a matter of time until they land one. Team radio announcer Will Flemming agrees, believing something big is imminent based on his X post on Tuesday afternoon.

“I believe the next 72 hours are going to make a lot of Red Sox fans smile. Way, way too much chatter and info from people I respect,” Flemming wrote.

It’s unclear what those moves will be, but it sounds like Flemming is hearing legit rumors from trustworthy sources.

After upgrading its rotation with recent trades for Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo, Boston is expected to land a big bat or two. The Red Sox are considered favorites to re-sign Bregman and are seriously pursuing Alonso, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Craig Breslow signs one or both of them this week. They also have plenty of trade chips, so another blockbuster trade could be in the works.

With Schwarber setting the market, Alonso could be the next domino to fall. Time will tell if Boston strikes any deals this week and proves Flemming correct by giving its fans some early Christmas presents.
