The Boston Red Sox reportedly have been in contact with one of free agency’s biggest fish…
Boston reportedly held a virtual meeting that “went well” with infielder Bo Bichette, according to 7 News’ Ari Alexander.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon, WEEI’s Rob Bradford and USA Today’s Bob Nightengale have all connected the two sides at different points over the last couple of weeks — with there now being reported contact that could accelerate a potential deal.
“Bichette came away impressed with the Red Sox,” Alexander wrote in his report on Monday. “The Red Sox have shown to be serious about the free agent.”
Bichette, 27, has been consistently lethal with the bat, slashing .292/.335/.460 with 95 home runs and 393 RBIs across the last five seasons — receiving MVP votes in every year but 2024. Boston would be able to slot him anywhere in the top half of the lineup, while also potentially giving itself an answer at third or second base.

Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has doubled down on the belief that he needs to bolster the middle of the lineup this offseason, and has also been connected to the likes of Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber.
MLB’s Winter Meetings have only just started, with more rumors and reports expected to drop throughout the week.
It’ll be only a matter of time before one leads to an actual signing.
