Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow was incredibly clear about his desire to acquire middle-of-the-order options for his lineup, but there are a few other areas to address.

You can never have too many options in the bullpen, right?

Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock are a great one-two punch, but there are spots remaining to help solidify the unit. Steven Matz has already signed on to play elsewhere. Justin Wilson no longer fits the timeline.

MassLive’s Chris Cotillo recently reported that the club has “checked in on” right-hander Seranthony Domínguez and remains “in on” left-hander Danny Coulombe.

Domínguez, 31, has been around the block over the last few seasons, spending time with the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays — finishing with a 3.78 ERA split between those three teams in 2024 and 2025.

Coulombe, 36, is the more recent addition to the “interest” list of the offseason, and would help fill the need for a left-handed relief option. Coulombe has combined to finish with a 2.60 ERA since 2020 — which included stints with the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers.
