The New England Patriots are playing in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, and that means players will receive another bonus.
Playoff bonuses come from a league pool, and Patriots players received $58,500 in each of the first two rounds of the playoffs, according to CBS Sports’ Joel Corry. While Patriots players will get paid for playing on Championship Weekend, so will one San Francisco 49ers player.
Keion White was traded from the Patriots to the 49ers on Oct. 28. White was with New England for eight games before the trade, making him eligible for the conference championship bonus. Players not on the 53-man roster when the game starts who spent at least eight games on the roster and are not under contract with another team in the same conference are eligible to receive the bonus.
The bonus for the conference championships is $81,000. White has secured that amount, and if the Patriots advance to the Super Bowl, he would secure another $103,000. If the Patriots win the Super Bowl, White would receive another $75,000.
White had a base salary of $1.8 million last season. With the 49ers eliminated, White will get to collect a free check from home thanks to the Patriots’ run.

White will be a free agent after the season. He had played 123 snaps with the Patriots this season before he was traded to San Francisco. He had six tackles before the trade.
For the 49ers, White had 1.5 sacks in nine games. He played over 50% of defensive snaps and started two games. Now, looking at free agency, White will at least have some extra money from the Patriots’ playoff run. White should be rooting for the Patriots to win the Super Bowl, as it would pay him $178,000.
