All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman had his introductory press conference with the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.

Among the topics that Bregman discussed were why he decided to join the North Siders and leave the Boston Red Sox after one season.

“Bregman, at his introductory presser, on the importance of the no-trade clause for the deal with the Cubs: ‘Being able to be in a place that offered stability and a place that showed how much they cared about what was important to me was super-important to myself and my family,'” Alex Speier of the Boston Globe posted on Bluesky. “‘I have a young family. We can’t wait to raise our kids here in Chicago.'”

The Red Sox have been one of the most frequently mentioned teams in rumors surrounding longtime Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette.

It remains to be seen whether Boston will target another bat this winter, but the Red Sox did continue adding to their revamped starting rotation on Wednesday, reportedly agreeing to a deal with southpaw Ranger Suarez.
