The Boston Celtics remain one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but their red-hot run hit a bump in the road last week. As a result, it led to the team falling in the latest 2025-26 NBA power rankings.
Despite being without Jayson Tatum, the Celtics have found a way to remain one of the top teams in the league this season. Heading into Monday’s slate of games, Boston is currently sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference.
And yet, the team didn’t look great last week, as it suffered a loss to the Nikola Jokic-less Denver Nuggets, while also throwing away a late lead against the San Antonio Spurs. As a result, the C’s fell from No. 7 to No. 8 in NBA.com’s latest power rankings.
“The Celtics are still a half game behind the Knicks for second place in the East and have the conference’s best point differential,” John Schuhmann wrote. “But they suffered a couple of disappointing losses at home last week, losing to the shorthanded Nuggets and blowing a late lead to the Spurs.”
Tough losses happen throughout the course of the regular season in the NBA, especially when you feature the sort of roster Boston has at its disposal. The good news for the Celtics is that they are very good at finding a way to bounce back after suffering a tough loss.

On Monday night, the C’s will draw a favorable matchup against the struggling Indiana Pacers, which should present them with a great opportunity to get back in the win column. Tip-off for this contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
