The Boston Celtics’ performance in Los Angeles against the Clippers on Saturday night was a boatload of success. Jaylen Brown continued his MVP argument with a 50-point explosion. Derrick White dropped a cool 29 to complement JB. Jordan Walsh added 13 points and 13 rebounds despite coming off the bench.
There were so many good things happening for the Celts, but as it turns out, the win was even more impressive from a statistical standpoint than everyone realized.
In the hours following Boston’s walloping of the Clips, Stathead pointed out that the Celtics’ offensive rating in the game was no less than the third-best for a single game in NBA history, per Celtics writer Taylor Snow.
You read that correctly. Net rating analysis suggests that the Celtics pulled off the most dominant offensive display in a single game in the history of the league, with the exception of two other occasions.
While the stat is very surprising, it does match how the Celtics’ 2025-26 season has been going. This team is extremely likable, extremely skilled, and extremely hard to beat.

Heading into a four-game home stand, the Celts sit at 22-12 on the year, good for third in the Eastern Conference after a strong 4-1 West Coast road trip.
The Celtics kick off the home stand starting Monday against the Chicago Bulls, followed by a matchup with the reigning champion Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. They host the Toronto Raptors on Friday and the San Antonio Spurs the day after in a tough back-to-back.

After that, a challenging four-game road stretch awaits in mid-January, including tilts against the Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, and Detroit Pistons. With 48 games remaining, Boston is just going to keep pushing and improving. It’s all the Celtics have done all season long.
