Jaylen Brown is a busy guy. When he’s not scoring 30 points a night for the Boston Celtics, he’s live-streaming on Twitch, launching a new shoe company and doing work in the community. He’s even taking salsa lessons.
Brown is flourishing on the court and off, making big strides as a player and a person. While he’s having the best season of his career so far, he addressed his hectic personal life after dropping 50 points on the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.
Some people might try to paint Brown as “distracted” for having interests, hobbies and goals off the court, but he certainly doesn’t see it that way. Basketball is his career, but it’s not his whole life.
“I think that’s the first narrative people like to go with. Like, ‘you’re going to be distracted if you’re doing other things outside of your craft or what they paying you to do,” Brown told reporters after Saturday’s game.

He also compared himself to media members who cover the team for a living but have other things going on in their personal lives.
“But everybody has a job, right? Y’all have a job. They’re paying you to be media people, but you’ll also do things outside of that, and nobody counts that as a distraction,” Brown continued. “So I don’t see why anything else with what I do in my personal life should be a distraction, either. I’m having fun with it — I guess we breaking down some narratives. I’m sure in the future you’ll see a bunch of athletes streaming in the future.”
Brown stays busy, but he also keeps himself in phenomenal shape, takes care of his body and keeps working on his game. That’s why he’s having the best season of his life at age 29, establishing himself as a legitimate MVP candidate and one of the best two-way players in the sport.

He may be doing a lot off the court, but it’s clearly not having a negative impact on his play whatsoever.
