Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown was snubbed for December’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month award, but head coach Joe Mazzulla picked up the slack.

Mazzulla was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for December on Friday.

“The NBA Coaches of the Month for December! West: Mitch Johnson (Spurs) East: Joe Mazzulla (Celtics),” the NBA’s official account posted on Bluesky.

He’s seen Brown put up career numbers in another All-Star caliber campaign, while getting the most out of unsung players like starting center Neemias Queta and rookie first-round pick Hugo Gonzalez.

Mazzulla has now earned at least one Eastern Conference Coach of the Month award in each of his first four seasons at the helm.
