Last week was crazy for the Boston Celtics.

They started the week on the road, losing by one point to the Detroit Pistons on Monday. Then they returned home for Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, which they won easily.

Then they went back on the road for a back-to-back against the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls.

Friday’s game against the Nets proved tougher than expected. The Celtics trailed for most of the night before forcing their first overtime game of the season, ultimately prevailing in double overtime.

As a result, they didn’t get to Chicago until 4 a.m. local time on Saturday morning. Not surprisingly, they lost to the Bulls later that night.

The Celtics flew back early Sunday morning, getting back to Boston before a massive blizzard dumped more than a foot of snow on the city.

Fortunately for the Celtics, their schedule is much easier this week. They have a four-game homestand, which is their longest in three weeks. Furthermore, none of their opponents are above .500.

Boston kicks off the homestand against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, when they’ll welcome back former Celtics stars Jrue Holiday and Robert Williams III to TD Garden for the first time since they were traded to the Trail Blazers.

On Wednesday, Boston will reunite with another former Celtics champion in Kristaps Porzingis, who’s back in town with the Atlanta Hawks. Boston hosts the lowly Sacramento Kings on Friday before wrapping up the week with a Sunday afternoon matchup versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

Accordingly, the Celtics should be able to bank a few more wins this week and hopefully hold on to the second seed in the Eastern Conference as the calendar flips to February. After that, they’ll hit the road for a brief two-game road trip against the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets.
