Jaylen Brown has been having an MVP-type season for the Boston Celtics, and he’s beginning to get some credit for it. Brown was named an All-Star starter this week for the first time in his 10-year career.
NBA players, past and present, have also been giving Brown some love. Former NBA champion Chris Bosh said this week that Brown should be considered the MVP front-runner right now.
Brown’s 2025-26 NBA season has been a showcase of two-way dominance. With Jayson Tatum sidelined due to an Achilles injury, Brown has emerged as the team’s primary offensive force, leading Boston through the first half of the campaign. Through 40 games played, he’s averaging 29.8 points per contest—fifth in the league—along with 6.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists, while shooting 48.8 percent from the field.
Brown’s January surge has been impressive, posting 30.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per outing on strong shooting splits. Standout moments include a career-tying 50-point explosion against the Clippers on January 3, and recent back-to-back double-doubles: 32 points and 11 rebounds in a narrow loss to Detroit on January 19, followed by 30 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in a victory over Indiana on January 21. He also dropped 41 points in a blowout win at Atlanta on January 17.
