New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye likes how the team is playing heading into the AFC Championship Game.
The Patriots hosted the Houston Texans on Sunday, and it was New England’s defense that helped the Patriots get the win. C.J. Stroud threw four interceptions, including a pick-six, as the Patriots’ defense was dominant once again.
Although Maye and the offense struggled to begin the game, they found their groove down the stretch, which will help them get confidence heading into the AFC Championship Game.
“It’s going to keep on getting tougher,” Maye said postgame on Sunday. “We keep on playing great defenses with great quarterbacks and teams that deserve to be here. That’s what we feel like we deserve to be here, and we’ve got times where we know we’ll have to be at our best in critical moments.
“It’s going to come down to the end and come down to making plays when you have them. I’ve just got to keep on giving our guys chances to make plays. I like our chances with those guys in the locker room. It’s fun to be with those guys, fun to show up here and just glad the season keeps on going. Hopefully it goes for a good while longer.”

Maye finished the game going 16-of-27 for 179 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception, as it wasn’t a great performance for the sophomore quarterback. However, he did enough to lead the Patriots to the win and the AFC Championship Game.
New England will go on the road to play the Denver Broncos on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game at 3 p.m. ET. The Patriots are 5.5-point road favorites as the Broncos are without starting quarterback Bo Nix.
