The Boston Bruins picked up a 3-2 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

Boston was led by Fraser Minten, who scored twice, including the overtime winner. Minten is from Vancouver, so to have that kind of game in his hometown was special for the 21-year-old forward.

“Wouldn’t believe it, probably,” Minten said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Lots of happiness. Happy to win, happy to do it here. Just a good feeling.”

Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, meanwhile, wasn’t surprised to see Minten have success this season. Swayman called Minten one of the hardest workers on the team and was glad to see him have success in his hometown.

“It’s excellent,” Swayman said about Minten. “He deserves every bit of it. One of the hardest workers on the team. Plays the right way, carries himself the right way like a pro.

“It’s just awesome to see him get results like that. It’s expected now. He’s put himself in a position to be an elite player.”

Minten’s two-goal game helped Boston pick up a big road win to continue its push for the playoffs.

Bruins head coach, Marco Sturm, meanwhile, also heaped praise on Minten for his effort and play on Saturday.

“Can’t describe a better script,” Sturm said. “He’s a young kid growing up here just around the corner and begging for tickets just to see the Canucks play. And what a game he had today. Not just two goals, but overall, just very happy for him and his family.”

With the win, Boston improved to 22-18-2 and is one point back of a playoff spot. The Bruins will return to the ice on Tuesday on the road against the Seattle Kraken.
