Saturday’s divisional round playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos was yet another overtime thriller that ended in an interception from quarterback Josh Allen (0-7 all-time in overtime).
The interception in question has been hotly debated after essentially ending the Bills’ season and propelling the Broncos to a berth in the AFC Championship Game against the Bills’ division rival, the New England Patriots.
From a non-biased perspective, it seems pretty clear that the Bills receiver never had possession while the Broncos defender ended the play with the ball in his hands. Nonetheless, the debate has been featured everywhere and has escaped the divisional weekend as the NFL’s lead storyline.
It doesn’t help that another “simultaneous possession” play occurred in the Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams game that took place the next day, with the offense being awarded the benefit of the doubt.

Through it all, an unexpected figure has come to the defense of the NFL’s referees: Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Burrow took to X to vent his grievances with NFL fans and a large portion of the media, seemingly having no idea what a catch is.
“The amount of ppl that don’t understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergasts me. And it’s not the officials,” Burrow wrote. “The two plays yesterday were not difficult calls, and they got them both right.”

The quarterback’s post went up late Monday evening and has gained more than 11 million views.
It is Burrow’s first post on the app in more than a year and a half.
