The Celtics fell to the Atlanta Hawks 117-106 on Wednesday night. Following the game, head coach Joe Mazzulla offered a straightforward evaluation of Boston’s performance.
“Just a bad day at the office,” Mazzulla said, via WEEI’s Justin Turpin.
The Celtics struggled from the 3-point line, making only 9 of 34 attempts, which won’t cut it against any NBA team.
Mazzulla didn’t have his best night either, picking up a technical foul in the third quarter. He was upset that the officials missed Baylor Scheierman getting fouled, which led to Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu grabbing the rebound and heading to the free-throw line.
“I think it was a little bit to get my point across, a little bit to try and spark the team and whatnot,” Mazzulla said on his technical foul, via ClutchPoints Daniel Donabedian.

The Celtics currently hold a 29-18 record and are clinging to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. However, they are facing increasing pressure from the New York Knicks, who also have a 29-18 record and are riding a four-game winning streak.
