The New England Patriots ensured a painful ending to the 2025 season for Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Herbert, who played through a broken left hand, took a beating in Sunday night’s 16-3 Wild Card Round loss. The Patriots capitalized on an offensive line missing star tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater by hitting Herbert 11 times and producing six sacks.
Dan Le Batard, host of his “Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz,” blamed Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh for placing Herbert in an adverse situation.
“I believe that Harbaugh should be indicted for threat, for manslaughter and attempted manslaughter, for trying to kill Justin Herbert by making him play behind that offensive line without Alt for the last eight games,” Le Batard said Monday morning. “It’s an incompetence. You cannot do that to Justin Herbert.”
Herbert completed 19 of 31 passes for 159 yards in his third playoff loss in as many tries. Despite his injury, the 27-year-old led the Chargers with 57 rushing yards on 10 carries.

The Chargers squandered a golden early scoring opportunity when turning the ball over on downs at the goal line after two Herbert runs. He also lost one of two fumbles at Gillette Stadium.
Le Batard faulted Harbaugh for asking too much of his injured quarterback beyond his usual style of play.
“Asinine that you’re asking Justin Herbert to change his game because you can’t run the ball,” Le Batard declared. “You don’t have an offensive line. You don’t have any Harbaugh answers. ‘Just run a sweep, Justin. Run away! Run!’ That’s what the Chargers’ offense was at the end of another season that collapses at the finish line.”
