According to FanSided’s MLB insider Robert Murray, the New York Mets have offered free-agent outfielder Kyle Tucker a short-term contract offer that’s worth $50 million in average annual value.
“The New York Mets are pursuing superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker – and have made a short-term offer worth $50 million per season, sources say,” Murray wrote on Tuesday.
Tucker’s 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs continued his productive career after his December 2024 trade from the Houston Astros. In 136 games, Tucker batted .266 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs, 91 runs scored, and 25 stolen bases, posting an .841 OPS and 4.6 WAR. He earned his fifth All-Star selection and a Silver Slugger award, contributing to the Cubs’ playoff push. In the postseason, Tucker hit .259 over eight games, including one homer.
Over his career, spanning 2018 to 2025, Tucker has established himself as an elite outfielder. Drafted fifth overall by the Astros in 2015, he helped secure the 2022 World Series title and amassed 147 home runs, 490 RBIs, 119 stolen bases, a .273 average, and 27.3 WAR across 774 games.

Teams including the Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays have been pursuing him this offseason.
The Mets saw Pete Alonso depart in free agency in December and would love to add a bat like Tucker’s to replace the lost offense.
