Mike Vrabel was an elite trash-talker as a player, and he’s just as good as a head coach.
Earlier this week, the Patriots shared a mic’d-up video of Vrabel messing with Stefon Diggs during last Sunday’s home win over the Miami Dolphins. Diggs, perhaps jokingly, offered to “throw some blocks” for the offense, with Vrabel responding by trolling the star receiver, who’s an iffy-at-best blocker.
Here’s the full exchange:
Diggs: “I can throw some blocks if you need.”
Vrabel: “You need to shut the f–k up.”

Diggs: “I’m ready to block.”
Vrabel: “You haven’t blocked once.”
Vrabel, to players: “Hey, how do we go 250 yards in three quarters and he ain’t blocked one time?”

Diggs: “Hey, but I was willing. … I ain’t trying to be on that tape.”
Though his blocking left much to be desired, Diggs was excellent in his first season with the Patriots, posting 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. Most importantly, the 32-year-old played in all 17 games despite suffering a torn ACL during the 2024 campaign.

Diggs and the Patriots will host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night in an AFC wild-card matchup. Kickoff from Gillette Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
