He was one of the greatest story of the 2025 NFL season, and now he’s looking to be an NFL head coach in 2026.

Yes, Philip Rivers is interviewing for the Buffalo Bills’ head coaching vacancy.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed the news on Friday, reporting that Rivers’s interview with Buffalo was to take place on the same day.

Rivers made a surprising return to the NFL in 2025, signing with the Indianapolis Colts on December 13 after five years away from professional play. At 44 years old, he started three games, stepping in amid team struggles. In those outings, Rivers completed 58 of 92 passes for 544 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions, posting an 80.2 passer rating.

Over his 18-season career spanning 247 games, Rivers amassed 63,984 passing yards (fifth all-time) and 425 touchdowns, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and the 2013 Comeback Player of the Year award.
