The New England Patriots should be all over looking for a veteran wide receiver to upgrade the receiving core this offseason, and there is a chance they could land Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens.
Pickens is set to become a free agent, but the Cowboys might use the franchise tag on him, which would mean the Patriots would need to trade for his rights. Given that New England has plenty of draft capital and salary cap room, K.D. Drummond from Cowboys Wire speculated that Dallas could trade Pickens to the Patriots in exchange for their first, second and fourth-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
“The Patriots pick is a projection right now, as they are still alive in this year’s playoffs,” Drummond wrote on Sunday. “The interesting thing here is New England has a WR1 in Stefon Diggs, but he’s facing an offseason of legal trouble, and the team can easily release him from the final two years of his contract without much damage to their cap situation.”
“Drake Maye is likely to win the MVP this season, so it would seem going to a top AFC team with a young star QB would be to Pickens’ liking. Dallas would have to include their fourth-rounder to make this work, pick value-wise.”
The Cowboys traded for Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers this past offseason, and he performed exceptionally well. Pickens recorded 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns over the course of 17 games.

Dallas should be aiming to secure a long-term deal with Pickens. However, if it can’t agree to a contract, the Patriots should make a move to trade for him.
