New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs will compete for a shot at the Super Bowl this Sunday, while his brother Trevon is on the hunt for a new team.

The Green Bay Packers announced on Tuesday that they have parted ways with Diggs. This marks the second time this season he has been let go, as the Dallas Cowboys released him at the end of December.

Green Bay claimed Diggs on Dec. 31, along with his five-year, $97 million contract he signed in the summer of 2023.

Diggs appeared in the last regular season game for the Packers, recording two combined tackles. In the playoff game between Green Bay and the Chicago Bears on Jan. 10, Diggs managed to play only one snap on defense.

Since the Packers let go of Diggs, they have freed up over $15 million in salary cap space. Diggs was set to earn $14.5 million in 2026, and with no guaranteed money left on his contract, this move made financial sense for Green Bay.

Diggs began his career on a strong note and continued to make waves by earning Pro Bowl selections in both 2021 and 2022. In an impressive display of skill, he led the NFL in 2021 with an astonishing total of 11 interceptions.

Unfortunately, he participated in only two games in 2023 due to a season-ending torn ACL, and he has never fully returned to form since then.

The Patriots may entertain signing Diggs this upcoming offseason if they think they could use some help at cornerback.
