Drake Maye continues to make it all about the team.

The Patriots second-year quarterback set a franchise record for completion percentage and put together a campaign worthy of the NFL MVP award. Despite that success, however, Maye again deflected about his individual accomplishments when asked what he was most proud of.

“Yeah, I think 14 wins. That’s the first thing that comes to mind,” Maye told reporters after New England improved to 14-3 following a 38-10 win over the Dolphins on Sunday, per a team-provided transcript. “Fourteen wins and probably 8-0 on the road. That’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of is going on the road eight times and coming out victorious in all of them. So that was pretty cool.

“From there, I think just the ability to get a lot of people involved,” Maye continued. “I think that’s one of the best things about our offense. We get a lot of people involved. A lot of people catch and pass, a lot of people scoring touchdowns, a lot of guys making plays at different parts in the game, and I think that’s one of the toughest things about ways to defend us. So that’s probably what I’m most proud of.”

Maye became only the second quarterback in history to throw for 4,000-plus yards and 30 or more touchdowns with at least a 72 percent completion percentage, per Patriots Communications. The 23-year-old is the only player to have done so before their age-30 season.

Additionally, Maye’s 72 percent completion percentage is the highest in franchise history for a single season. It’s the sixth-highest in NFL history, per Patriots Communications.

When asked about New England’s turnaround after back-to-back four-win seasons, Maye noted he was a small piece of the puzzle.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

“Yeah, I think it starts from the top down,” Maye said. “I think from Kraft to them deciding to hire Coach Vrabel to kind of bringing him in here and really just buying into what he was coaching us hard and coaching us to believe in. I think from there, it’s us players — got some new players in here, some new faces. I think that the organization has really gelled well together. We enjoy being around these guys.”

Maye and the Patriots now have a new season in front of them after earning the No. 2 seed in the AFC. New England will open its postseason against the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night.
