New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye finally provided public comments regarding his shoulder injury…
Maye, who reportedly suffered the injury during his club’s victory over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship, was listed as a limited participant on the projected injury report on Wednesday. It’ll remain to be seen whether that changes moving forward, though he finally discussed how he was feeling on Thursday.
“I feel good,” Maye said during his media availability, per team-provided video. “We got out there and moved around a good bit today, was able to do a jog through and feel good. I look forward to being ready to go — this is the game you dream of playing in so we’re looking forward to getting out there and playing in the Super Bowl.
“… I don’t think (my ability to throw will be hindered). It’s a long season and sometimes things show up, and I’ll do whatever I can to feel 100%. If I don’t get there, I’ll try to get to 99% and do whatever I can to make sure I’m throwing and that I can help the team win.”
Maye hasn’t publicly favored his arm since supposedly suffering the injury, but raising your arms above your head is different than throwing the ball in the Super Bowl. New England’s decision to keep him from even warming up in front of cameras was quite interesting, though he did share that he threw during practice and felt good doing it.

“I’d say the shoulder is doing just fine,” Maye said.
It’s been popular for some folks to wonder why there is so much interest in an injury that could potentially have zero impact on Super Bowl LX, but the man himself understands why.

“No, I wouldn’t say I’m surprised,” Maye said. “It’s the right shoulder of the starting quarterback for an NFL team — so it’s pretty simple.”
The Patriots will release their latest injury report around 5 p.m. ET on Thursday.
