New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is relatively reserved, but he has his moments…
Maye offered the final snap to tight end Hunter Henry in the waning moments of last weekend’s wild-card victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, poked fun at himself after being left hanging by a referee and even did some voiceover work for his wife, Ann Michael, to put a bow on her “Bakemas” series on TikTok — though his best moment might have come behind closed doors.
Maye was apparently trying to get a rise out of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels this week for matching up with his brother, Ben, who will serve as the Houston Texans’ receivers coach/passing-game coordinator in Sunday’s divisional round matchup at Gillette Stadium.
“Josh is a very competitive person himself,” Patriots quarterback coach Ashton Grant said, as transcribed by ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “Drake tries to nudge him a bit, which is fun for the room.”
McDaniels himself downplayed the reunion.

“We kind of grew up in a coach’s household with my dad,” McDaniels said. “I’m super proud of what (Ben) has been able to do. Obviously, these are interesting situations when you find yourself competing with your sibling, but it’s a little bit more interesting for my parents than anybody else.”
The Patriots and Texans will fight for the right to advance to the AFC Championship on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
