The New England Patriots are gearing up for another postseason game, while some of their division rivals, like the New York Jets, have already seen their season end and are looking ahead to the offseason.

New York has several roster needs to address through the NFL Draft and free agency, particularly at the running back position. With starting running back Breece Hall set to hit free agency, the Jets may need to find a veteran replacement if they decide not to re-sign him.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay identified Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne as a potential fit for the Jets this offseason.

“Etienne could be an ideal Hall replacement,” Kay wrote on Tuesday. “The team has serious aspirations to finally snap the league’s longest active playoff drought in 2026 and may not want to chance handing the backfield over to a less-proven back. Etienne is not only a similarly skilled player to Hall, but he’s also a veteran who just helped lead a stunning year-over-year turnaround for a long-suffering franchise.”

The Jaguars selected Etienne in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and since then, his career has been quite a rollercoaster ride. However, this season he truly shone under head coach Liam Coen’s offensive scheme, rushing for 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 292 receiving yards and six touchdowns over 17 games.

If the Jets can’t re-sign Hall, bringing in Etienne could be the next-best option.
