The New England Patriots drafted Will Campbell with the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he has been a great addition to the team.
Campbell allowed a strip-sack in the third quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers. He allowed five sacks in the regular season, and some critics are calling him out online. However, Campbell sent a message to the critics.
“Honestly, I don’t give a (expletive) what anyone says,” Campbell said on Wednesday, according to MassLive’s Chris Mason. “It’s easy to type behind a Twitter account that is fake. I hold myself to the highest expectation of anybody. I want to be perfect.”
Campbell has brought stability to the Patriots’ left tackle position. His rookie season has had some ups and downs, but it’s evident that he is great for the team’s culture and has a high ceiling. Campbell acknowledged his mistakes during the Chargers game and is focused on next week’s game.
“Obviously, I didn’t pitch a shutout,” Campbell said, per Mason. “I had two or three plays that I wish I could have back. But that’s $300 million in defensive ends, and I’ve got a ton of respect for those dudes. It’s going to be like that every week in the playoffs.”

The Houston Texans have one of the best defenses in football, so Campbell will have his hands full. Led by Will Anderson Jr., the Texans’ pass rush will be looking to wreck the game. Campbell is focusing his energy on getting ready for the Patriots’ next challenge.
“It’s my job. It’s what they pay me to do.” Campbell said, per Mason. “I can look at it and be like, ‘Yeah, I wish I had two plays back last week,’ but that’s wasting energy towards this week. Somebody told me that and it’s very true. I can’t be worrying about last week, because quite frankly, the second after it happened, it doesn’t (mean expletive) anymore. There’s not anything I can do about it, the people in the stands can do about it, you just have to move on and keep playing. You let can’t one play turn into 10.”
Ever since draft night, it has been clear that Campbell holds himself to a high standard and wants to make sure he is helping the team win. He does not care what people online are saying.
