New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had a rollercoaster of an afternoon against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Despite the Patriots clinching a 28-16 victory, Maye had a mixed performance. He threw three touchdown passes but also struggled with an interception and fumbled the ball four times, losing two of them.

Maye can’t perform as he did against the Texans when the Patriots face the Denver Broncos on Sunday, or there’s a chance New England won’t come out on top.

Boston Sports Journal’s Patriots writer Greg Bedard stated what Maye has to improve on for New England to score a win against Denver.

“His level has to go up, in terms of intensity, ball security,” Bedard said on Tuesday, via Patriots on CLNS. “That’s the only way I see the Patriots getting knocked out (with) the way that they’re playing defense.”

Despite Maye struggling with ball security against the Texans, he was bailed out because Houston’s quarterback, C.J. Stroud, threw four interceptions.

Denver boasts a strong defense, much like the Texans, and, with the added benefit of home-field advantage, the pressure is on Maye to perform at his best.
