The New England Patriots have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season, and Drake Maye is a huge reason why.

Maye figures to be a finalist for MVP, alongside Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams. Stafford seems to have the edge over Maye for the league MVP Award, as he was already named a First-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press.

It’s rare that a First-Team All-Pro player does not also win MVP. Stafford is continuing to rack up the accolades in his stellar season and was named to the Professional Football Writers of America All-NFL Team on Monday.

Stafford was also named to the All-NFC Team, with Maye being named as the quarterback for the All-AFC Team. However, Stafford got the nod on the All-NFL team. It was Stafford’s first selection to the PFWA All-NFL Team.

As it stands right now, Stafford figures to claim the NFL MVP Award shortly before the Super Bowl. He is in his 17th season, and this season figures to be the second time he will earn MVP votes.

As for Maye, the 23-year-old has already cemented himself as a great quarterback and could end up signing a lucrative extension soon. He was named Secon-Team All-Pro by the Associated Press.

This season, Maye led the league in completion percentage, threw 31 touchdowns, passed for 4,394 yards, ran for 450 yards and had four rushing touchdowns. He and Stafford both have their respective teams one win away from the Super Bowl.
