Brayan Bello will pitch for Team DR
The Boston Red Sox will now have six representatives at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Brayan Bello (Dominican Republic) and Wilyer Abreu (Venezuela) will both play in the WBC, joining teammates Garrett Whitlock (Team USA), Aroldis Chapman (Great Britain), Jarren Duran (Mexico) and Ceddanne Rafaela (Netherlands).
The WBC officially announced the former duo’s inclusion in the tournament on Thursday.
Bello, 26, will make his first appearance in the tournament coming off the best season of his career, as he finished with a 3.35 ERA and 124 strikeouts across 166 2/3 innings pitched in 2025.
Abreu, 26, will also make his first appearance in the tournament coming off a season in which he slashed .247/.317/.469 with 22 home runs and 69 RBIs despite appearing in just 115 games for Boston.
The World Baseball Classic will begin pool play on March 4, with the championship game taking place at loanDepot Park on March 17.
