The Boston Red Sox have reportedly been looking for infield help, and a new name has entered the mix.

The Red Sox have been linked to Isaac Paredes and Brendan Donovan, but both are going to have to be acquired through trade. There is one name they have an interest in on the free agent market, however.

“They’ve had some conversations with Dylan Moore, per source, but unclear if they’ll be his final destination,” MassLive’s Chris Cotillo wrote on X on Monday.

After missing out on Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette, there are no superstar infielders available for the Red Sox in free agency. However, Moore is a solid addition if they Red Sox sign him.

Moore is a seven-year veteran who has played in 689 regular-season games. He spent his entire career with the Seattle Mariners before he was released last season. He signed with the Texas Rangers.

He is a versatile defender who made appearances at first base, second base, third base and in the outfield last season. In 2024, he was the American League utility Gold Glove. His defense is definitely his strongest attribute.

As a hitter, Moore would not move the needle for the Red Sox. He has a .693 career OPS and 63 home runs. He is not on par offensively with Paredes or Donovan, but he could be a solid addition to the infield. He is versatile enough to be a valuable body on the bench.

While not great, he hits much better against left-handed pitching. His OPS is 59 points better against southpaws than right-handers.
