The Boston Red Sox have made substantial additions to the starting rotation and even found one of those middle-of-the-order bats everyone has been clamoring for, but there is still one need left to address.

It’s time to find a left-handed option for the bullpen…

Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock are a great one-two punch, but there are spots remaining to help solidify the unit ahead of unproven options like Shane Drohan, David Sandlin and Tyler Uberstine.

MassLive’s Chris Cotillo reported the club remains in the market for left-handed relievers on Wednesday, stating they remain engaged with the likes of Danny Coulombe, Tim Mayza and Cionel Pérez.

Coulombe, 36, was previously linked to the organization and has combined to finish with a 2.60 ERA since 2020 — which included stints with the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers.

Mayza, 33, is a familiar name to locals after spending seven seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, though he has bounced around lately while compiling a 5.61 ERA across stints with the Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates in 2024 and 2025.

Pérez, 29, has spent each of the last four seasons with the O’s, seeing his ERA balloon from 1.40 in 2022 to 8.31 in 2025.

Andrew Chafin, Joey Lucchesi, Brent Suter and Taylor Rogers were also floated as potential options, though they weren’t tied directly to Boston.
