New England Patriots passing game coordinator Thomas Brown could soon be in line for a promotion.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic recently reported on a number of assistant NFL coaches who may earn new titles in the upcoming offseason, including Brown.

“Several young coaches are generating real momentum in league circles, including: – #Broncos Davis Webb – #Jaguars Grant Udinski – #Patriots Thomas Brown,” the senior NFL insider posted on Bluesky.

Brown spent nine years as an assistant coach in the college ranks from 2011 to 2019 in various roles with six different schools.

The 39-year-old’s first NFL gig was running backs coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 and he stayed with the organization for three seasons.

Brown served as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator during the 2023 campaign and was the Chicago Bears’ passing game coordinator at the start of the 2024 season. Brown then moved up to interim offensive coordinator last November when Shane Waldron was fired and was named Chicago’s interim head coach after Matt Eberflus was let go following Week 13.

He was hired by the Patriots on Jan. 27.

“Several young coaches around the league are generating real momentum as potential candidates for larger roles. Multiple head coaches and assistants have shared strong reviews and belief in a group that includes Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb and secondary coach Jim Leonhard, Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Brad Idzik and Patriots passing game coordinator Thomas Brown,” Russini wrote.
