The New England Patriots caught a break ahead of their AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos when the team was forced to start backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham due to starter Bo Nix’s ankle injury.

Barring something unexpected, the Seattle Seahawks will have Pro Bowl quarterback Sam Darnold ready to go for Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 against the Patriots.

Darnold, who was listed as questionable ahead of the Seahawks’ NFC Divisional Round contest vs. the San Francisco 49ers but ultimately suited up, has been battling an oblique injury.

Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald gave injury updates on Darnold and other Seahawks players on Monday.

“Macdonald said QB Sam Darnold (oblique) and LT Charles Cross (foot) will be sore after playing through injuries. ‘There’s a couple other things we’re going to work through, but nothing major, to our knowledge,’ he said,” ESPN’s Seahawks reporter, Brady Henderson posted on X.

The 28-year-old Darnold (who’s 0-4 in his career vs. New England) earned his second straight Pro Bowl honor this campaign after recording 25 passing touchdowns and 14 interceptions in the regular season. He’s gone 37-for-53 with 470 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions across Seattle’s two playoff games.
