The New York Yankees are interested in re-signing free-agent first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, according to YES Network’s Jack Curry.

Goldschmidt’s 2025 season with the Yankees marked a solid, if subdued, chapter in his illustrious career. After signing a one-year deal following six seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, the 38-year-old first baseman appeared in 146 games, batting .274 with 10 home runs, 45 RBIs, and 76 runs scored.

His OPS stood at .731, reflecting a dip in power from his peak years, but he maintained a respectable 1.2 WAR while showcasing reliable defense and occasional flashes of his trademark power. Goldschmidt’s first home run as a Yankee came on March 29, a 413-foot blast that energized fans early in the campaign.

Over 15 MLB seasons since debuting with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011, Goldschmidt has cemented his status as one of baseball’s elite hitters.

He boasts a career .288 batting average, 372 home runs, 1,232 RBIs, 2,190 hits, and 1,280 runs, complemented by 174 stolen bases and a .882 OPS across 2,074 games. His 63.8 WAR ranks him among the greats at first base. Goldschmidt’s accolades include seven All-Star selections, four Gold Gloves, five Silver Sluggers, and the 2022 National League MVP award, where he led the league in slugging and OPS.
