The Boston Celtics were already in a tough spot today. Not only are they on the second night of a back-to-back after beating the Dallas Mavericks last night, but they’re also still shorthanded after trading Anfernee Simons to the Chicago Bulls yesterday.
Unfortunately for the Celtics, it looks like they’ll be even more depleted tonight based on today’s injury report.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s road game against the Houston Rockets, Boston listed Jaylen Brown as doubtful with left hamstring tightness and right knee soreness. That’s a tough blow with Brown coming off back-to-back monster games to open February.
The Celtics also ruled out Sam Hauser with a right thumb strain and Chris Boucher due to personal reasons. Jayson Tatum remains out with his Achilles injury.
If Brown sits, it will be his second missed game in the last four contests. The reigning NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month also sat out last Friday’s home win over the Sacramento Kings. His next chance to play would be on Friday against the Miami Heat at home.

Boston has won three of the four games Brown has missed this season, but not having Hauser and Simons means the team will be extra short on firepower against the league’s fourth-best defense.
Derrick White and Payton Pritchard will need to step up in their absence, as will others. The Celtics were already significant underdogs before the injury report came out, so getting a fourth straight win won’t be easy against a red-hot Rockets team that’s 8-2 over its last 10 games.
