It took Jaylen Brown 10 seasons, but he finally won his first career Player of the Month award this week.
Brown was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January on Tuesday. Luka Doncic won the award in the Western Conference.
After shockingly losing out to Jalen Brunson in December, Brown got the hardware for January. In 14 games last month, he averaged 29.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game, helping the Boston Celtics go 9-5 in those contests.
Brown continued his MVP-caliber season in January, playing at an elite level on both ends of the floor. However, Joel Embiid probably deserved the award over Brown after outperforming him in most categories.

That said, Brown is carrying a larger load for the Celtics without Jayson Tatum, whereas Embiid is getting more help from his teammates, including Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and VJ Edgecombe.
Regardless, it’s a well-deserved honor for Brown, who’s been one of the league’s best players for years. With Tatum sidelined this season, he’s finally getting a bit more recognition.
Brown’s already off to an awesome start in February after racking up 30 points and 13 rebounds against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. He’ll look to keep it up against the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
