San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey has high praise for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.
Darnold served as the 49ers’ backup quarterback in 2023, and McCaffrey was blown away by his talent. After seeing him practice, McCaffrey knew Darnold was legit and could lead a team to a Super Bowl.
“I remember when people asked me about Sam when I first met him in Carolina, from the jump, I was like, ‘This guy is a dude,’” McCaffrey said on ‘The Herd’. “The more and more you see him at practice, you understand why he’s a top pick in the draft. And then you’re around him more, and you’re like, ‘This is one of the best players I’ve ever been around. Period.’
“It’s because of how talented his arm is. He’s way more athletic than people give him credit for. And he’s really good at taking what is given to him and doing his job.”
It’s high praise for the Seahawks quarterback, who’s looking to help Seattle beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.

This season, Darnold threw for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
Although many thought a Seahawks-Patriots Super Bowl was a surprise, McCaffrey isn’t shocked that Darnold has led Seattle to the Super Bowl.
The Seahawks are a 4.5-point favorite over the Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
