Bleacher Report’s NFL writer Moe Moton just suggested that the New York Jets should trade for Jacoby Brissett this offseason to improve their quarterback play.
Brissett is currently a member of the Arizona Cardinals and is a former New England Patriots QB.
Moton believes that Brissett could be available on the market, considering the Cardinals have undergone a coaching change.
“New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn turned over a large portion of his coaching staff after his first season with the team,” Moton wrote. “Among the firings, he jettisoned offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, which led to an extensive interview process that resulted in Frank Reich’s hire.”
“In 2019, Reich lost Andrew Luck, who retired weeks before the season began, thrusting Jacoby Brissett into the starting role for the Indianapolis Colts. He threw for 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions with a 60.9 percent completion rate in 15 starts.”

“Seven years later, a Reich-Brissett reunion does not inspire much excitement, but it is a high-floor pairing for a Jets squad that needs stability and a pulse on offense,” Moton continued.
“As the fill-in starter for Kyler Murray this past season, Brissett threw for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions with a 64.9 percent completion rate. He may be available via trade if the Arizona Cardinals’ new coaching staff shakes up the roster. Brissett only has one year left on his current deal.”
Brissett, originally drafted by the Patriots in the third round (91st overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft, has built a career as a reliable backup and occasional starter across multiple teams.

Brissett’s journey includes stints with the Pats (2016 and 2024), Indianapolis Colts (2017-2020), Miami Dolphins (2021), Cleveland Browns (2022), and Washington Commanders (2023). As noted by Moton, Jacoby’s most notable starting stretch came in 2019 with the Colts under Frank Reich, where he went 7-8 in 15 games, throwing for 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
After limited action in recent years, Brissett’s role expanded significantly in 2025. Following Murray’s early-season struggles and a foot injury that landed him on injured reserve, Brissett took over as the starter for 12 games. He appeared in 14 total contests, completing 315 of 485 passes (64.9%) for 3,366 yards (a career high) with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions, achieving a 94.1 passer rating. He also rushed 38 times for 168 yards and one score. Despite strong individual output, including a game where he set an NFL record with 47 completions, the Cardinals finished poorly, and Brissett’s record as a starter was 1-11.
Brissett remains under contract with Arizona through the 2026 season, though speculation has linked him as a potential trade candidate or bridge option elsewhere.

His career totals stand at 101 games played, 1,391 completions on 2,246 attempts (61.9%) for 14,766 yards, 76 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions, with a 20-45 record as a starter.
