The New England Patriots are preparing for the Super Bowl, while their rival Buffalo Bills will have to watch from home.

During an interview with CBS, Bills quarterback Josh Allen noted that he usually does not watch the game, but he is good friends with Sam Darnold, so he will be watching this year. That means he will be watching the Patriots play for a seventh championship.

Allen noted that as the Bills quarterback, he is not pulling for the Patriots, but he did speak on how much respect he has for the Patriots players and coaches, specifically Mike Vrabel.

“As a Bill and a Bills fan, I don’t know if anyone is going to be rooting for the Pats,” Allen said on Tuesday. “With that being said, I’ve got so much love and respect for a lot of guys on that team, coach Vrabel included. He’s a fantastic coach. He’s a fantastic person.”

Allen is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and many expected the Bills to get over the hump this season and win the AFC. The Bills were unable to do that, and Allen will have to wait another season to try and win a championship.

Allen and Darnold came out of the same draft class in 2018. Darnold was the third overall pick by the New York Jets, and Allen was the seventh overall pick by the Bills. Darnold’s journey has been different than Allen’s, but he is now in the Super Bowl.

Nobody expected Allen to be pulling for the Patriots. However, he seemingly does not carry too much animosity toward the players or coaches despite the rivalry.

The Bills and Patriots split their season series this season, but the Patriots ended up winning the AFC East. Allen’s Bills and Drake Maye’s Patriots seem poised to be competing for the top spot in the AFC East for years to come.
