The New England Patriots are a few days away from taking on the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, and Robert Spillane’s injury is something to watch.

Spillane missed time this season with an ankle injury and appeared to re-injure the same ankle in the AFC Championship Game. The Patriots had an extra week to get ready for the game, which could end up being huge for Spillane.

Despite not practicing at all last week, Spillane is “100% confident” he will be able to play on Sunday, according to the Boston Herald’s Zack Cox.

This is huge news for the Patriots’ defense. Spillane is one of their most important players, especially in the run game. He is the primary communicator on defense and leads the team with 23 run stops, despite missing time with his injury.

The Seahawks were top 10 in rushing yards in the regular season, and starting running back Kenneth Walker is great at breaking tackles. Having Spillane on the field will be very important.

Whether Spillane practices this week and if he is limited in the game are yet to be seen, but he seems confident that he will be on the field.

He had 97 tackles, two interceptions, four tackles for a loss and a sack in the regular season. He led the team in tackles and has proved to be a great signing. He signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Patriots in the offseason.

With Spillane seemingly ready to play, all eyes will be on Harold Landry III for the Patriots’ defense. He had 8.5 sacks in the regular season, but is dealing with a knee injury and did not play in the AFC Championship Game either.
