New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel knows very well what it feels like to win a Super Bowl.

The 50-year-old was a massive part of the Patriots’ championship-winning seasons during the 2001, 2003 and 2004 campaigns, but each of those victories came when he was a player.

Fresh off his second AP Coach of the Year award, Vrabel is now one day away from coaching in his first Super Bowl.

According to a report by senior NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the one-time Pro Bowl linebacker has been leaning on former New England head coach Bill Belichick, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid for advice leading up to the big game.

“New England’s Vrabel reached out to Belichick and fellow Super Bowl-winning coach Andy Reid, tapping into their experience as he gets ready for the big game. Vrabel, of course, has been to the Super Bowl four times as a player, but never as a head coach,” Russini wrote. “New England’s first-year leader also has an experienced advisor on staff. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is heading into his 10th (!) Super Bowl. Vrabel has been asking McDaniels for advice on preparations and other things to consider Sunday.”

Vrabel’s communication with both Belichick and McDaniels is obviously no surprise.

Reid, meanwhile, is plenty familiar with the Super Bowl stage as well.

Between his time with the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, the 67-year-old has coached in six of the big games over the last 21 years.

Vrabel and the Patriots defeated Reid’s Eagles 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX, nine seasons before the latter joined Kansas City ahead of the 2013 campaign.

After leading the Chiefs to five playoff berths in his first six seasons at the helm, Reid finally broke through with his first Super Bowl title during the 2019 campaign.

Kansas City fell to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV at the end of the 2020 season before the Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl again in 2023, 2024 and 2025, winning crowns in the first two years of that span.
