The New England Patriots have reached the Super Bowl, but they are going into the game as underdogs.

The Patriots have been doubted throughout the postseason, with many pointing to their strength of schedule as the reason they were so good. Many have doubted their defense’s ability as well.

However, here they are. They’re getting ready for the Super Bowl, and their defense has been a huge reason why. With their offense facing tough assignments against the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos, the Patriots’ defense has tightened up.

Milton Williams recently spoke about people doubting the Patriots once again and sent a message to the haters.

“We definitely see it,” Williams said Wednesday, per NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry. “It’s hard not to. Any time you open your phone, you see something new.

“Everybody gonna say what they want to say, man. They gonna pick who they gonna pick. People don’t like the Patriots. I was one of them. But I’m here now.

“It really don’t matter who they pick, who they like. We’ve got to go out there and play. And, you know, we go out there and win the game, we’ll see how much they got to say.”

The Seahawks are a great team, and came out of a very competitive NFC. However, the Patriots had one of the best offenses in football in the regular season and have proven they can take on tough defenses in the playoffs.

The Patriots’ offense has not played its best in the playoffs, but they have also battled the elements. The defense, however, is on a tremendous run. Against the Texans, the Patriots’ defense had four interceptions, three sacks and a touchdown. The defense had six sacks against the Chargers. Against the Broncos stellar offensive line, the defense had three sacks.

Williams and the defense will need to show out one last time on Sunday to bring another championship to New England. Perhaps then the Patriots will get their flowers.
