When asked a marriage-related question during a Super Bowl press conference on Monday, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye didn’t shy away from answering.

“I definitely would advise (my teammates) to get married,” Maye said plainly. “It’s one of the best things in life … I chose to get married young, and I don’t regret it one bit.”

Maye’s foundation at home has enabled him to thrive in his profession in 2025. The second-year QB has had an MVP season and is one win away from winning a Super Bowl ring at age 23.

In the regular season, Maye started all 17 games and delivered exceptional efficiency. He completed 354 of 492 passes for a 72.0% completion rate (the highest in the NFL and a Patriots franchise record) while throwing for 4,394 yards (ranking fourth league-wide) and 31 touchdowns (third) against just eight interceptions.

Under his leadership, the Patriots finished with a 14-3 record, securing the AFC’s No. 2 seed and earning Maye All-Pro honors, a Pro Bowl selection, and consideration among the top MVP candidates. He led the team in several efficiency categories and posted multiple standout performances, including a five-touchdown game against the New York Jets.

New England advanced to Super Bowl LX after wins in the Wild Card (over the Chargers), Divisional Round (over the Texans), and a gritty 10-7 AFC Championship victory against the Broncos in snowy Denver. There, Maye overcame tough passing conditions (10-of-21 for 86 yards) by rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown, including a key improvised scramble to seal the win.
